Healthy, soft, glowing skin. Yes, it is possible! With the right care and maintenance for your complexion’s needs.

Your skin may have common tendencies within a particular skin type but the truth is, no one’s skin is the same. Lifestyle, genes, climate, skin care routines and many other factors impact the complexion. Our philosophy at Sanctuary Spa Houston is to understand the underlying issues with your skin and customize our services to meet your individual concerns.

The Personalized Facial

Diagnosing what’s going on with your skin can feel overwhelming. Oily and dehydrated? Dry with breakouts? Normal? The good news is you are not alone, our experienced technicians are here to guide you through every step.

Sanctuary’s Personalized Facial is developed to perfectly fit whatever you need – even the length of the facial. Your experience begins with a one-on-one consultation with your technician who will then personalize your service with the best techniques and products to awaken the health and beauty of your skin.

To top it off, you will also receive a back and shoulder massage that will also restore the mind and spirit. A true mini vacation from life’s little (or big) worries.

Developing a relationship with your esthetician will allow you to better understand how to care for your complexion at the spa and at home. Here’s a guide to help you choose an option that’s right for you.

Oily or Acne-Prone Skin

These two skin types are often grouped together because while not all oily skin has acne, most acne prone skin is oily. Generally, oily skin produces more oil than it needs, feels thicker than normal and dry skin, and has larger pores. The production of excess oil often leads to pimples and blemishes. To help oily skin:

Extraction Facial – Extractions are imperative to achieving clear skin. This treatment is designed for those who have congested, impacted pores. It helps the appearance of acneic skins, and blackheads and whiteheads are also addressed. This facial includes cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, extraction and moisturization. We recommend this facial be purchased as a series, as most will need more than one session to achieve optimal results.

In addition to your facial treatment, daily cleansing with a mildly antiseptic wash and following up with a light moisturizer is a good starting place.

Dry Skin

Dry skin may result from medication, too much sun/wind, poor diet, normal aging, dehydration, or using harsh soaps and chemical-heavy skin care products. The two types of dry skin are oil dry, which means oil glands are not producing enough oil to hydrate the skin, and water dry, which is dehydrated skin. Our own natural oil is our skin’s best moisturizer. The trick is getting the oil glands to cooperate. To help dry skin:

Microdermabrasion Facial – This facial is a safe and effective treatment for enhancing skin texture. This facial helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, burn scars and hyper-pigmentation. Our device propels fine crystal particles onto the surface of the skin, causing immediate exfoliation. The vacuum action stimulates blood flow, which helps accelerate the skin repair process, while suctioning the crystals from the skin. We recommend purchasing a series of treatments to achieve the best results.

In addition to this facial, the best ongoing treatment is to use products that can stimulate the skin’s natural oil production, thereby providing good moisture.

Sensitive Skin

There are those with skin that is easily upset and can’t tolerate harsh chemicals or even certain natural ingredients. Then there are others who tend to be upset due to allergies, improper care, or chronic skin conditions like rosacea, psoriasis or eczema. No matter what makes the skin irritable, sensitive skin is weakened skin. This skin needs to be exercised, strengthened and fortified before healthier skin can be achieved. Anything that can add to the inflammation negates this process. To help sensitive skin:

Minkyti Facial – This trademark facial features two cleansings, exfoliation, hydration, nourishment, steam, acupressure, connective tissue massage and seaweed poultice mask – the perfect advanced skin care treatment for ultra-dry and aging or mature skin. It is also recommended as post treatment for microdermabrasion or chemical peel.

In addition to this facial, keep in mind that gentle, calming ingredients that nourish and protect are essential in strengthening and bringing this skin type back into balance. Eliminating harmful cosmetic ingredients is a good place to start. Often people who think they have sensitive skin are experiencing a reaction to chemical ingredients.

Aging Skin

While growing older is inevitable, prevention is key to warding off premature skin aging and keeping the complexion looking its best as we mature. Smoking, overdoing the alcohol, and consuming too much sugar all lead to premature aging. There are natural ingredients that plump the skin, even skin tone, and soften lines. Regular facials can also help to keep skin looking youthful. To help with aging skin:

Micro-Current Anti-Aging – The micro-current works on the re-education of the muscles and the increase of collagen and elastin fibers. We can focus on lengthening muscles that have contracted over the years and shorten muscles that have become elongated due to age and gravity by stimulating 32 of the facial muscles with tiny amounts of electricity.

Oxygen Infusion Facial – The Oxygen Infusion Facial delivers powerful vitamins, antioxidants and hyaluronic acids into your skin, instantly smoothing the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles caused by facial muscle contractions around the forehead, eye, nasal folds and lip areas. Your skin will look and feel years younger, visibly lifted, toned and hydrated.
