Progressive Peel Aftercare: Skincare Products & Tips
Natalie Brunello • May 5, 2025

Progressive peels are a fantastic way to refresh and resurface your skin, offering gentle and highly effective results. Unlike chemical peels, our progressive peels are a series of lighter, more frequent treatments. You can achieve gradual improvements without significant downtime. To get the most out of the treatment, it is key to follow a few simple post-care guidelines. Your Sanctuary Spa esthetician will help you care for your skin.

Products For Aftercare

The Sanctuary Spa Progressive Chemical Peel treatment uses Rhonda Allison chemical solutions to remove the top layer of your skin and stimulate the growth of new skin cells. We recommend using the included aftercare to support your skin’s healing process. The skincare routine is required for at least 5-7 days after your peel. Each product is vital to achieve properly healed skin and the ultimate benefits of the peel. It is important to be gentle with your skin and to avoid aggressive rubbing and picking.

Rhonda Allison Soothing Cream Cleanse

Soothing Cream Cleanse

Rhonda Allison Soothing Cream Cleanse is a non-active, gentle, and nourishing cleanser to wash your face, infused with antioxidant-rich rosewater and hydrating milk protein. It is great for sensitive and healing skin. We recommend using this cleanser day and night for 1-2 weeks after your peel. Add 1 pump on dampened hands and massage into your face and neck. Add more water to lather it and then rinse your face.

Rhonda Allison HA Hydra Mist

HA Hydra Mist Toner

Cucumber extract, hyaluronic acid and coconut work together to help instantly cool, soothe, and re-hydrate dry, inflamed skin. The Rhonda Allison HA Hydra Mist can be used throughout the day to provide extra hydration, ridding you of any dryness in the case of flaking. Morning and night, simply spritz your skin with the HA Hydra Mist toner directly after cleansing.

Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Gel

Growth Factor Gel

The Rhonda Allison Growth Factor Gel is a soothing hydrator that has a light feel. It contains aloe gel and epidermal growth factors, which heal and strengthen your skin. Growth Factor Gel is an amino acid protein that repairs and rejuvenates skin while generating new cells. After cleansing and toning, apply 1-2 pumps of the Growth Factor Gel and let it absorb into your skin.

Rhonda Allison Drop Of Essence

Drop Of Essence

The Rhonda Allision Drop of Essence contains hydrating properties along with omegas 3, 6, and 9, vitamin E, lavender, and geranium. These all combine to strengthen, increase elasticity, soothe, and reduce inflammation. Additionally, it helps any product placed underneath penetrate deeper. To boost moisture, apply 1-2 pumps of Drop of Essence onto your skin, a little goes a long way.

TiZO Mineral Sunscreen Tinted

TIZO SPF

Protecting your skin from the sun is always important. In this fragile state, it is required. We’ll include TiZO sunscreen samples of either Ultra Zinc SPF 40 Non Tinted or Tinted formula. It is a mineral based, non-greasy sunscreen that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Ideal for all skin types, it fills your skin with ceramides and antioxidants. 15 minutes before sun exposure, apply ¼ teaspoon of Tizo sunscreen to your face and decollete to shield yourself from sun damage. You should apply another layer every 2 hours for ultimate sun protection. You should avoid swimming and activities that will cause excessive sweating.

These products will effectively heal your skin if used consistently and properly for the 5-7 day recovery period. In addition to these provided products, Rhonda Allison’s Calming Skin Gel and Arnica Therapy are available for purchase to soothe and reduce inflammation in your skin. If you have dry skin, you will probably benefit from adding these two products to your post-care to manage your peeling process.

Bottle of Rhonda Allison Calming Skin Gel that helps calm irritated skin

Calming Skin Gel

Use the Rhonda Allison Calming Skin Gel to calm irritated and inflamed skin. This soothing formula is great for reducing redness and itching while promoting healing. It is a versatile product that can also be used for rashes, burns, insect bites, and swelling, if not being used for post progressive peel care. Gently apply 1-2 pumps of Calming Skin Gel to spot treat and do not use it for more than 3 days in a row.

Bottle of Rhonda Allison Arnica Therapy gel for helping heal skin

Arnica Therapy

Arnica Therapy speeds up healing, assists with pain relief post procedure, and can reduce inflammation. It is especially effective for post peel procedures and more sensitive, rosacea-prone skins. You will experience antibiotic and anti-inflammatory benefits with this product. Before moisturizing, apply 1 pump to areas with flaking or sensitivity in the morning and night.

What To Expect + How To Heal

Okay, now you have the products down. What else do you need to know? After progressive or superficial peels, you should expect:

  • Pink or red skin for the first 1-2 days
  • Tender to touch or more sensitive skin for the first 1-3 days
  • Light, sun-burned type flaking to no visible peeling

Consistency with your skincare routine will be a key component for proper healing. Be careful of turtlenecks, scarves and other items that could irritate your skin. Within the first 24-28 hours, be careful of glasses and sunglasses. Sometimes they can cause demarcation lines on the bridge of the nose. Put a cotton pad or Kleenex under glasses to create a barrier. Keep your hair pulled back and away from your face as much as possible. Your esthetician will be able to provide more specific guidance, if you have any questions. Be mindful of avoiding the following products and activities as well.

Avoid these for at least 2 weeks:

  • Prescription Strength Topicals (like AHA’s, BHA’s, retinoids or other correctives)
  • Botox, Dermal Fillers, Permanent Makeup, or Facial Wax
  • Outdoor Activities/ Vacations or Air Travel
  • These may create risks for complications such as irritation, redness, dryness or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Includes swimming and saunas

What is a Progressive Chemical Peel? For starters, a chemical peel is a resurfacing facial procedure that uses a chemical solution to remove the top layer of your skin. By removing dead skin and stimulating the growth of fresh, revived skin cells, a chemical peel accelerates cell turnover resulting in a smoother, more radiant appearance.
