Sanctuary Spa Estheticians Share Summer Skincare Tips

We hope that you are having all of the fun this summer! Are you traveling, visiting the park, or heading to the beach every weekend? Wherever you might be this summer, we are here to help with your skincare routine for healthy skin. It is so easy to get caught up in all of the fun that this wonderful season has to offer, but the change in season can often cause your skin to change as well. Knowing what products to use and what products to avoid this Summer will help you keep your skin on the right track! Two of our estheticians shared their favorite summer products with us. Keep reading for Tamara and Karen’s summer skincare tips!

Tamara’s Summer Skincare Go To’s

Our knowledgeable esthetician Tamara chatted with us about the products that she is recommending to her guests this summer! She started out with the obvious and most important, SPF. She favors Rhonda Allison’s Broad Spectrum Daytime Defense SPF 30. Broad spectrum sunscreen protects the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays. “A lot of guest’s don’t know this, but not all sunscreens are broad spectrum. It’s important to protect the skin against all harmful rays.” said Tam. Especially in the summer, it is important to stay protected and re -apply sunscreen every few hours. Even if the weather appears overcast or you’re simply in your car with minimal exposure. Try to remember to apply and reapply that sunscreen.

Rhonda Allison C-Peptide ComplexNext, Tamara recommends all of the antioxidants! Two great options are Rhonda Allison’s C-Peptide Complex and Antiox 18 Complex. The number one aging culprit are free radicals. Free radicals are created with excess sun and pollution exposure. Hello Houston! Antioxidants are an important addition to your skincare ritual. They protect your skin from the effects of these free radicals. In lay terms, antioxidants help reduce pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C delivers potent collagen support to promote healthy skin. Antiox 18 combines 18 different antioxidants with biopeptides to help strengthen your skin.

Another one of Tamara’s recommendations for the summer is to keep the skin hydrated. Usually a lot of guest’s believe that you should focus on hydration in the colder months. But keeping the skin hydrated is as important in the summer. Tamara loves spending time in her pool, hanging with her family. If you also enjoy time out in the sun, at the pool or at the beach keep water nearby. These outdoor activities may cause the skin to be even more dehydrated as our body sweats out our moisture.

Karen’s Summer Skincare Favorites

Our lovely esthetician Karen is passionate about skincare year-round! Hailing from Costa Rica, she also knows a thing or two about maintaining healthy skin in summer temperatures. She, like Tamara, also believes that extra hydration is essential in the summertime! Her favorite product year-round is  Rhonda Allison’s Hyaluronic Acid. It is so great to add that extra boost of hydration. Hyaluronic acid diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. So, add to your routine to restore a youthful, plump complexion. This lightweight, hydrating serum makes the perfect moisturizer for the summer time.

Lastly, Karen is loving our new addition to the spa, Rhonda Allison’s Oceanic Vitality Serum. A potent, pigment serum that uses the power of brown algae to inhibit tyrosinase and melanocyte activity. Wow that was a mouthful! Good thing we have a trusted estheticians to guide us to the best products. This serum infuses the skin with antioxidant protection and lightening support for younger- looking, radiant skin. Plus, it’s great to pair with C-Peptide Complex too.

How to Keep Up with Your Skin this Summer

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! If you are not already cleansing your skin up to twice a day, start now. Your nighttime cleanse is extremely important. During the summer we are sweating a lot more than usual. If we don’t cleanse the sweat and bacteria off the skin, all of that becomes trapped in the skin. This bacteria can lead to break outs. Don’t go crazy though! Try not to cleanse more than twice a day or use a very gentle cleanser. Cleansing too much could dry out your natural oils, forcing your skin to get out of balance.

After you cleanse you will want to use a refreshing toner to soothe your skin after being out in the sun. Source Vital’s Rose Toning Essence or Blue Tansy Toning Essence are both great options for this. Lastly, you are going to want to be cautious using skin correctors and retinol. These kinds of products can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and using them without proper precautions can cause damage in the long run.
