Sanctuary Spa Houston
Sanctuary Spa Re-Opening Sanitation and Hygiene Standards
Sabrina • May 15, 2020

Sanctuary Spa is now offering facials, waxing, massage, nano brow, nano lip and yoni steam services in addition to selling retail products online for curbside pickup or shipping. We are not offering hydrotherapy services at this time.

Sanctuary Spa consistently maintains a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation. Given the current COV-ID 19 pandemic, we have reevaluated every aspect of sanitation to ensure the safety of our team and guests.

Below covers our requirements and guidance for effectively sanitizing and disinfecting our spa and interactions between employees and guests to reduce the spread of communicable diseases, as much as possible. All employees coming back to work have signed off on the below commitments.

Materials and Safety Precautions

All of these items are available at the spa:

  • Face Masks
    • Employees will wear cloth masks with filters
    • All guests will wear their own masks in the common areas of the spa. We will provide disposable masks if they don’t have their own.
  • Face Shields
    • Technicians will wear, as appropriate, during services
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Citrus II Hospital Grade Disinfectant
  • Opti-Cide3 Disinfectant
  • Barbacide
  • Meyer’s All-Purpose Cleaners
  • Method All-Purpose Cleaner
  • Bleach
  • Isopropyl Alcohol
  • No-Touch Waste Bins
  • Hand Sanitizer (available throughout the spa)

Prior to Reopening

We have systematically and thoroughly deep cleaned every inch of the spa using soap and hospital grade disinfectants. We have laundered all linens. We have fully stocked the spa with the above items.

We have trained and educated all of our employees on new sanitation standards, guest interactions, and safety materials.

After Reopening

We have implemented the following measures to ensure we continue to uphold our high level of sanitation while also incorporating extra measures as per guidance from local, state and national regulatory and medical bodies.

Although we have a warm culture and are used to greetings and farewells filled with hugs, handshakes and touch, we will require non-contact methods going forward.

We appreciate our guests’ cooperation as we make the following adjustments:

  • There will be at least 30 minutes between each service, giving the technician more than enough time to thoroughly disinfect each room.
  • Start and end times for services will be staggered to limit the number of guests in the lobby at any particular time.
  • Guest intake forms will be available online and sent to you on your appointment day, thereby eliminating the need for paper forms.
  • Guests will let guest care or technician pick out products for purchase. We have also removed testers at this time.
  • Extra people will not be able to come in with a guest.

Employees

  • Will need to stay home if sick.
  • Will come to work wearing their own mask, when they get to the spa, they will:
    • Immediately sanitize their hands
    • Have their temperature checked
    • Change into spa uniform and wash their hands
    • Switch from their personal mask to a mask with filter
  • Will wear gloves throughout the day. They will put on new gloves for each guest.
  • Will maintain a distance of at least 6 ft. from all other persons.
  • Will wash hands for 20 seconds with soap and warm water prior to treatment, and verbally notify guest that hands have been washed; if washing hands is especially impractical, use hand sanitizer
  • Will avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. If it happens, they’ll immediately wash hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
  • Will cover their mouth and nose with a tissue when they cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Throw used tissues in the trash and immediately wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Will remain in their treatment room when they do not have a guest.
  • Will self-report and stay home from work 14 days after the last day they were in close contact with someone with Coronavirus
  • At the end of each shift, we encourage therapists to bring a clean change of clothes to change into before they leave the spa, bagging their spa uniform and washing it when they get home.
  • During their off time, employees are committed to practicing conservative, safe social distancing

Guests

  • Will answer the screening questions truthfully.
  • Will need to stay home if sick, including allergies or non-COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Will remain in their car until their appointment time.
  • When they get to the spa, they will:
    • Wear a mask, if they don’t have one, the spa will provide a disposable one
    • Immediately sanitize their hands
    • Have their temperature checked
  • Will be asked to leave and reschedule if they exhibit any of the following symptoms: fever greater than or equal to 100 degrees F, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhea
  • Will maintain a distance of at least 6 ft. from all other persons.
  • Encouraged to minimize payment contact by using their credit card on file. You may update your credit card on file when you make your appointment.
  • Sanctuary Spa will waive cancellations related to sickness concerns. However, as our therapists work based on commission, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible.

Guide to Washing Hands

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
  • Always wash or use hand sanitizer after removing gloves.
  • Wash after blowing one’s nose, coughing, or sneezing. Also, after using the restroom.
