Create Your Spa Day at Home

We’re big believers in the importance of self-care by going to the Spa ;). It’s especially important to follow through at home.  Having a skincare routine at home will ensure that you’re taking good care of your skin, and that your facial you received is maintained.  It also allows you to take a few minutes to yourself to decompress after a long day, or of course if you’re getting ready for the day.  The products that our estheticians use are available for purchase– which makes it so much easier to recreate your facial at home.  I personally have oily skin, so finding that perfect skincare routine has definitely been a challenge.  After many, many years of trial and error, I think I’m finally onto something!  To all of my oily-skinned ladies (and guys,) here are a few of my skincare steps that have benefited my skin and also my well being.

Starting with cleansing your skin, double cleansing is crucial to rid the dirt and oils on your face, leaving you a fresh canvas to work with, especially while we’re wearing our masks as it makes it easy for dirt to get trapped.  If I happen to be wearing makeup, using Source Vital Micellar Cleansing Water   is a good first step to prep my face for my cleanser. My personal favorite cleanser is the Rhonda Allison Skin Brightening Cleanser .  While my “teen” acne has diminished, my dark spots  (hyperpigmentation) from past acne hasn’t.  This cleanser is great for that– it brightens your skin while smelling amazing.  This cleanser has daisy flower extract. It’s a good choice for the summertime too, considering we’re always in the sun. If you have drier skin, add the Skin Brightening Cleanser into your routine 2-3 nights a week and increase from there based on how your skin responds.

My favorite part of my skincare routine is right after I’ve cleansed my face.  It leaves me feeling so refreshed as I’m getting ready for the next step.  I’ve learned pumpkin isn’t just for the fall. My fave toner is the Rhonda Allison Pumpkin Lotion.   This product is most definitely looked over, but I personally love it. The pumpkin extract blends with beta carotene infusion, hyaluronic acid, and honey combine to help my skin glow. Use it in combination with the Rhonda Allison Skin Brightening Cleanser for the perfect combo for a clean and refreshing feel on your skin.

My favorite serum of the moment is the Source Vital Prickly Pear Oil .  I had no idea that to control your oily skin, you have to actually use products that contain oils.  Who would’ve thought?  Thankfully, I have our talented estheticians to guide my skincare regimen and I’m here to share all of the fun stuff I learn with you! For example, this Prickly Pear Oil is high in Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids which help detoxify and clean my pores. Also packed with antioxidants and Vitamin E! After I apply this botanical oil at night, I wake up with almost no excess oil on my face.  You learn a lot from working at a spa and that tidbit was most definitely my holy grail.

To add a little extra something to your skincare routine, make it an entire experience while adding a Rose Quartz Facial Roller .  Using a roller will allow for the products to bepenetrated into the skin, and it’s super relaxing to do.  There are so many benefits to using a facial roller; I personally love that it decreases puffiness, especially if I’m super tired in the mornings. Best benefits are seen with more consistency. I use the larger side, after applying my serum, roll from my jawline outwards to the top of my cheek. Then, I roll up on my forehead, from brow to hairline. With the smaller side, I finish by starting at my inner eye and rolling in a semi-circle motion outward & upward towards my hairline. Our esty team has shared that all of these motions help get the effect of their facial massage while I’m home. It increases circulation which helps to increase collage, leaving my skin glowing.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration to give yourself some much needed time and care, wherever you are.  Taking the time to use each product with intention makes your skincare routine something enjoyable for you every time.  If you’re not exactly sure on what products to use, or even what skin type you have, visit with one of our estheticians at Sanctuary Spa so they can guide you in the right direction. Every facial begins with a skin consultation where you can share your thoughts and concerns. The esthetician will choose the best products for you and share at the end of your facial their thoughts and guidance.

With gratitude,

Sydney
