Sanctuary Spa Houston
5 Ways to Have the Best Spa Experience
Jenna • Sep 15, 2017

If you’re new to the spa, we understand not knowing what to expect or how to act can be a source of anxiety. Have no fear, we’re here to help! From tipping to proper attire, we’ve got you covered.

Punctuality

To ensure your spa experience is nothing less than totally relaxing, we recommend you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you’re new to the spa, please allow 30 minutes to accommodate completion of your guest profile. Once your forms are complete, we welcome you to relax and have a snack or a drink in our meditation room.

Cell Phones

For your comfort and the comfort of our other guests, we recommend escaping from the digital world and turning your cell phone off during your service. Using cell phones during session slows the technician and your service time will be adjusted in order to finish on time. Not to mention, the lights and buzzing of a phone can be just enough to disrupt your relaxation, and you deserve full relaxation during your spa visit.

We request you please refrain from taking any phone calls within the spa, as it disrupts the tranquility of the environment. Preferably, keep your cell phone on silent or turned off.

Nudity

Massage is typically done with minimal clothing, but you are covered with a sheet at all times. Our therapists are well trained in the “art of draping” which means the area of the body they are working on is the only area exposed at that time. You may keep your underwear on, the key is your level of comfort.

The technician will leave the treatment room before you get up from the treatment. We provide disposable bottoms and bras for our hydrotherapy and wet room treatments; however, a swimsuit or nude is appropriate if you prefer.

Tipping

Our technicians work very hard, and gratuities are very much appreciated, at your discretion. You can indicate to the guest care team how much you would like to leave for your technician after your services. The standard spa tip ranges between 18% and 25% of the service total, but of course tip amount is left for you to decide!

Cancellations

As a courtesy to other guests and our technicians, we ask all appointments be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance; otherwise, 50% of the service booked will be charged. Out of respect for our technicians and other guests’ time, if you fail to show for your appointment without cancelling, 100% of the service booked will be charged.

Arriving late to your scheduled appointment will simply limit the time for your treatment. Your treatment will end on the scheduled time so the next client will not be delayed. The full value of your treatment will be applied.

We hope you find these tips to be helpful in making the most out of your spa experience. If you’re ever unsure of anything, just ask! Our technicians and guest services team are happy to assist – we want you to have the best spa experience possible.
